This two-part class is taught by Sarah G. and begins on Sunday, October 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. The second meeting is a week later on October 18 at the same time. Participants need to consider themselves at least intermediate in knitting: ready to make a lace pattern with the help of a chart.
Purchase the pattern Chestnut Cowl on Ravelry for about $8.19. Notice there is a separate version for the turtleneck styled pattern. Sarah modified the original cowl to mimic the turtleneck and can share her notes with you if you do not want to purchase both patterns.
Gauge is not terribly important for this project because it was designed to be a yarn stash buster. Sarah has made two examples, one using Tulla Twinkle by Louisa Harding (Solstice) and one with Moonshine Fine by Juniper Moon, holding two strands together (sno cone).
Note that a ball of Tulla Twinkle is enough for two cowls and the Moonshine Fine is enough for one cowl. You are welcome to choose any yarn you'd like for this project; there is a 15% discount on yarn at Lucky Rooster for class materials.
